Amazon and Bluray.com have both announced the release of a complete limited edition Blu-ray set consisting of the entire HALLOWEEN series, including 15 discs, never before seen interviews, commentaries and behind the scenes documentaries AND, available for the first time ever, the official release of HALLOWEEN 6: THE PRODUCER'S CUT! The set will be released by Anchor Bay/Starz, but no official release date has been announced as of yet.
Sound off in the comments section below. Is this a sick trick or a potentially awesome treat? UPDATE -- 5/18/14: Amazon has removed its listing and all info on this set.
Last week I told you about FUNKO's latest creation, a series of 60 (yeah, sixty!) 3 3/4-inch retro action figures they've dubbed ReAction. The series includes figures from The Goonies, Pulp Fiction, The Crow, Terminator, the classic Universal Monsters, Snake Plissken, Predator and many more. The figures are available now to pre-order over at Entertainment Earth and will make your pockets lighter by about 10 bucks each.
The website just recently revealed what ReAction's "modern day" horror figures - including Jason Voorhees, Michael Myers, Pinhead and Freddy Kreuger - will look like. Each figure has five points of articulation similar to the classic Kenner toyline from the 80's. Michael, Jason and Pinhead include their trademark accessories of a butcher knife, machete and the lament configuration.
(As cool as they appear and as assuredly as I will no doubt own all four figures, I'm a little disappointed that Leatherface didn't make the cut.)
Check out pics of all the figures below and, for an even closer look, check out Entertainment Earth's website by clicking here.
Trick or Treat Studios, who brought us officially licensed Halloween 2 masks a couple years ago, announced via their Facebook that they have a slew of new officially licensed Halloween masks on the way. First up, and already available for pre-order on their site, is what they're calling Halloween 2 "clean", a replica from the opening sequences of the Halloween sequel. See image below.
Trick or Treat Studios have also announced they will be releasing screen accurate replicas of masks from Halloween 3, 6, 7 and 8 at a later date. See images for all below.

"Found footage" sequels to both HALLOWEEN and FRIDAY THE 13TH have been rumored for years.
Unfortunately those rumors are very true. Peter Bracke, author of CRYSTAL LAKE MEMORIES, confirmed it on THE SAUSAGE FACTORY (videos below) and several filmmakers have corroborated that they've been approached by The Weinstein Company and Paramount to bring audiences "found footage" sequels to both popular franchises. Though the idea of either horror franchise adopting the now tired gimmick sounds like an abysmal idea, both studios appear keen on the idea and are actively pursuing making both films a cinematic absurdity. I mean, reality.
"Found footage" movies only work if we believe what we're seeing is really happening or could potentially happen. Films that deal with paranormal subject matter - PARANORMAL ACTIVITY, for instance - work nicely inside this milieu. Slasher movies? Perhaps. Slasher movies involving characters like Michael Myers and Jason Voorhees? NO! The HALLOWEEN franchise dabbled in such "real world", techie terrain with HALLOWEEN: RESURRECTION and we see how that turned out. A chill ran down my spine just thinking about it. We know Michael and Jason are, for lack of a better word, fake.
Why either studio won't simply make a film featuring these two genre favorites doing what they do best, sans gimmicks (remake/reboot/3D/found footage) is beyond me. It's not like these movies are rocket science to make. Give fans what we want. Not a tired gimmick.

It's that time of year again, people, and this October I have lots of fun stuff planned for both my BLOG and YouTube channel in honor of Halloween.
To kick off this Halloween season, I wanted to pose this question to you: What is your favorite HALLOWEEN film and why? But wait! Not the HALLOWEEN film that you consider to be the best of the series, but the one you snag from your DVD/Blu-ray shelves and watch more often than any other. You know, that go-to HALLOWEEN film that fills you with the indelible spirit of the season.
(And don't be shy. If Rob Zombie's HALLOWEEN is your favorite, I won't give you too much of a hard time over it.)
Vote for your favorite HALLOWEEN film in the poll and explain your selection in the comments section below. Make sure to share this on your favorite social media platform. Thanks, and have a great Halloween season!
